A pre-Christmas note from my Studio |
With Christmas getting closer, my studio has shifted into a different rhythm with the shorter days, softer light, and longer evenings spent painting.
This time of the year always changes how I work and the paintings themselves. I find my paintings become more reflective, more about atmosphere and emotion which is apparent in the paintings I create. It is when I am most aware that original art isn't just a decoration, it holds moments, feelings and stories that resonate with each person in different ways.
At this time, when we are all busy Christmas shopping, I have been thinking alot about how people choose gifts at Christmas. The ones we keep longest are rarely the biggest or the most expensive, they are the ones with true meaning. I often think about how a painting will live with people quietly becoming part of daily life long after the decorations are packed away.
I'd like to send a Thank you, as always, for being here and supporting me as an independent artist. Your time even to read this helps me more than you might realise.
Wishing you calm and creative moments as Christmas approaches
