I started this painting because I wanted to capture that feeling you get when you walk into a room filled with fresh flowers..that instant lift, that sense of life and colour everywhere.
Over two weeks, I built up the layers in oil paint, adding each flower one by one until it almost felt like the bouquet had grown on the canvas by itself. The vase is inspired by a piece of old blue-and-white china I’ve always loved I thought the dragon design added something strong and timeless against all those loose, beautiful flowers.
